Joseph R. Romano, Sr., age 77, of Derby entered into rest on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Lord Chamberlain. He was the devoted husband of 50 years to Linda-Marie C. (Mascolo) Romano.
Joe was born in Derby on June 3, 1947 son of the late Frank J. Romano and Pauline (Imperato) Conti and his step-father Edward Conti and was a lifelong Derby resident. He worked in sales for the Automated Mailmen for years until his retirement.
Joe was a graduate of Derby High School and went on to attend Southern Connecticut State University. He was a member of the Sahara Club and a friend of Bill W. Joe enjoyed watching College Football and Basketball, loved the Derby Red Raiders and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants and also enjoyed the racetrack. He always told a good joke and had wise words to share.
The family would like to thank the caring nurses and staff at Lord Chamberlain for their care and compassion for Joe.
He was the beloved father of Joseph Romano, Jr. and his wife Jennifer, Cari Cabral and her husband Joe and Katherine Romano, brother of Frank Romano, Paul Romano and his wife Lisa and brother-in-law of Paula Romano. Joe was the loving grandfather of Hadlyn, Liv and London and was also survived by several nieces and nephews and the "Duchess Boys". He was predeceased by his brother Robert P. Romano.
On Friday, August 16th, friends are invited to his memorial mass at 5:00 PM at St. Mary Church, 212 Elizabeth St., Derby. His burial was private.
