Joseph Stephen Russell died unexpectedly on December 21, 2024, at his home in Boca Raton, Florida. His family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death.
Joseph was born in Staten Island, New York on June 30,1953, the son of Joseph James Russell and Norma Rabe Russell.
He graduated from Miami Norland Senior High School located in Miami Gardens, Florida and enlisted in the US Navy/USNR for 2 years and then served an additional 6 in the US Air Force Reserves.
Joseph continued his education at Miami Dade Community College earning an Associate's Degree. Next at Florida International University on April 25, 1982, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and then on August 21, 2011, he earned his Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice at Saint Leo University. In continued pursuit of his DREAM, Joseph became a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Policy and Administration earning this degree at Walden University on May 14, 2017.
He was a lifelong baseball fan of the New York Yankees, and his favorite player was Mickey Mantle. Joseph also loved football. His favorite team was the New York Giants.
He found joy in playing guitar and loved listening to the Beatles. One of Joe's many talents an Astrology. As an Astrologer, he did private readings of astrological charts, birth charts and much more.
Joseph was also a part-time substitute teacher in Miami, Florida for 10 years. He later worked as a Security Officer for G4S Global.
Although Joseph's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us.
Joseph is preceded in death by his father, Joseph James Russell, his mother, Norma Rabe Russell, his older sister, Deborah Smith and his younger sister, Norma Thompson.
Joseph is survived by his sister, Barbara Vedo, his nephew, Michael Novak, as well as respective cousins, and his dear friend Sandi.
