Joseph C. Schuh

Joseph Schuh, 89, of Pompton Plains, formerly of Wyckoff, passed peacefully on September 8, 2022. He was born in Newark, New Jersey to the parents of Joseph and Lillian Schuh. He graduated from St. Benedict's Prep, Newark and received his BS from NJIT, his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson and his PhD from Rutgers. He worked as a professional engineer in the utility field for Public Service, Ebasco and Orange and Rockland Utilities. He finished his career as a professor in the business department at Rutgers University. Joe served in the United States Air Force and retired as a major from the reserves. He is survived by his loving wite Sheila of 64 years and his five children, Mary Carpentieri (Patrick), Kathleen Caseria (David), Geralyn Neumann (Thomas), Christine Macagne (Christopher) and Paul Schuh (Colleen); his thirteen grandchildren, David (Meghan), Ryan (Nicole), Natalie, Brendan (Jeanie), Sara, Allison, Matthew, Emily, Timothy, Isabella, Peter, Sean, Ted and one great grandchild, James. Joe was a devoted husband, father and Catholic He was an active member of St. Elizabeth's Church for 59 years where he served as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, parish council member and in various other ministries, Joe especially enjoyed volunteering at Sacred Heart School in Jersey City, St. Martin De Porres soup kitchen and the Wyckoff YMCA. Besides volunteering, Joe had a passion for running and ran 15 marathons. He loved sports and was always in attendance for all his children and grandchildren's sporting events. Joe's wit and humor brightened the lives of all those around him. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 13th at Vander Platt Funeral Home in Wyckoff from 4pm-8pm. The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, September 14th at 10am at St. Elizabeth's Church, Wyckoff. Interment Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah. The family requests donations to be made to Sacred Heart School 183 Bayview Ave. Jersey City, NJ 07305 c/o St. Elizabeth's Church, Wyckoff or St. Benedict's Prep, 520 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Newark, NJ 07102 in lieu of flowers.
