Joseph Loring Sherman, age 46, of Glenwood Drive, Moorefield, WV, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 5th 2022, at home with his loving wife by his side. Born May 19, 1975 in Winchester, VA, he was the son of the late Roger Loring Sherman and Ann Leigh Kotz Sherman. Joe was a lifetime member of the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church where he acted as the Historian for several years. He was also proud of his status as Eagle Scout and helped lead the local pack with his own sons for several years.
Joe was best known as a beloved teacher and friend to all. He began his teaching career in Berkeley County where he met and married his wife. They decided to both teach in Hardy County where they could be close by to help his loving parents, Roger and Ann. He fulfilled many roles in the school system, including both teaching and administration, but was most passionate about the opportunity to coach young athletes of all grade levels to reach their potential with compassion and heart. He is remembered fondly as a great basketball, football, and track coach and his legacy will live on through not only his own children, but his students and the athletes he coached over the past 25 years.
Surviving is his wife of 17 years, Emily T. Sherman; three children, Grant, Carter, and Aubrey; a sister, Beth Golden with her husband Jim, and a niece and nephew, Stephanie and Ben Golden.
