Publish in a newspaper

Joseph C. "Skip" Courtney IV, age 72, passed away, suddenly, on Monday, August 11, 2025, in Ocean City, MD. Born in Washington, DC, he was a son of the late, Joseph C. Courtney, III and Audrey (Watt) Courtney.

Skip's circle of friends is far and wide. An avid offshore angler, hunter, and storyteller – he never met a stranger. His passion for the outdoors was only surpassed by his love for his wife and family. He will be remembered for lighting up any room he entered with his presence and sense of humor. Everyone loved him dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Courtney; a son, Michael (Sabrina MacEeachern); a brother William "Craig" (Sandra); sisters, Kathryn Kelchner (Matt) and Martha Jablonski (Rob); three grandchildren, Keegan Scott MacEachern, Aubree Mary Courtney, Kade Michael Courtney; and three nephews, Grant Kelchner, Luke Kelchner, and Zeke Kelchner.

A visitation will take place on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 11:00am to 12:00pm at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin, MD. A celebration of life will take place beginning at 1:00pm at the Marlin Club (9659 Golf Course Rd., Ocean City).

Letters of condolence can be sent to the family via www.burbagefuneralhome.com . Arrangements are in the care of The Burbage Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ocean City Reef Foundation.
