Joseph "Joe" Harry Spence, age 66, of Pass Christian, passed away on July 13, 2024.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, William G. Spence, Sr. and Odette Ware Spence Smith; siblings, William Bill" G. Spence, Jr, and James "Jim" McGhee Spence; his nephew, Eric James Spence; his great nephew, Kolbie Spence; and his niece, Susan Elizabeth Spence..
Joe is survived by his partner in life and best friend, Luann "Lucy" Alexander; son, David Spence (Leighann); granddaughter, Emilia Spence; siblings, Catherine Spence, Charles "Chuck" Spence, Richard "Rick" Spence (Cheryl), Judy Beard (Buddy), Janet "Jan" Spence (DJ Drury); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joe is a native of Ellisville, Mississippi and graduated from Ole Miss in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. He worked for Sartin's Vital Care and previously served as the Director of Pharmacy at both Select Specialty Hospital and Garden Park Medical Center. During his 43-year career, he received numerous awards and accolades for his work and dedication.
He enjoyed water sports, fishing, boating, and was an avid cook on his smoker-grill. He lived his life for his family, especially his only grandchild, Emilia, who was the absolute light of his world. He was a devout Catholic and member of Holy Family Parish in Pass Christian where he was a Eucharistic minister and lector. He also served as a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus.
He will be missed by many and the impact of his love for people will always live on.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, from 12 - 2 pm at Holy Family Catholic Church, Pass Christian. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 pm in the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of their choice.
