Joseph F. St. Pierre, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and proud veteran, was reunited with his wife of 61 years, Pauline St. Pierre, when his journey on this earth came to an end on July 12, 2024.
Marcel, as he was known to his family in Maine, was a self-taught and highly intelligent individual, and one of thirteen siblings raised in Brunswick to the late William St. Pierre, Sr and Reine (LeClair). After enlisting in the Army in 1949, he fearlessly served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War, proudly proclaiming that he never landed on the ground in a plane, always on his feet. His commitment and bravery were evident as he proudly held the rank of Sergeant until his honorable discharge in 1952. Following his military service, Joseph relocated to CT in 1955 and embarked on a successful career as a maintenance foreman for Marlin Rockwell/TRW where he was known for his knowledge of the facilities inside and out. An avid sports enthusiast, Joseph found joy in cheering on his favorite teams, be it the Red Sox, Giants, Bruins, or Celtics. He enjoyed engaging in card games, however, the true essence of his happiness came from being surrounded by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His tireless work ethic, exemplary service to his country, his wisdom and love for his family leave a legacy that will continue to inspire all those who knew him.
He is survived by his sons, Paul St. Pierre and his wife Lori, Philip St. Pierre and John St. Pierre and his wife, Lisa; his grandchildren, Tim St. Pierre and his wife, Joy, Heather St. Pierre, and Celine St. Pierre; great-grandchildren Julien, Jameson and Delaney St. Pierre, and Stephen, Savannah and Summer Pace; his last surviving sibling, his brother, Andrew St. Pierre, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by eleven brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers, he may be remembered with contributions to the Plainville Community Food Pantry, PO Box 233, Plainville, CT 06062 or the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org
Family and friends may gather in celebration of Joseph's life on Tuesday July 23, 2024 from 10-11 a.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville. Prayers and words of remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m., followed by military honors. He will be laid to rest privately at a later date at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. Joe was always so pleasant, he would wave whenever we were outside. When the dogs would bark he would banter back at them which always made me laugh. He kept an eye on our house whenever we were away. It was such a gift having him as a neighbor. We will definitely miss him.
