Born August 10, 1947, to Joseph Ronald Thompson Sr. and Doris Mae Thompson in Louisville, Kentucky, left us on August 16, 2025, after fighting as best and as long as he could with his son and daughter by his side. We love you.

Ron grew up in Kentucky, along with his four sisters. Growing up hunting and fishing in the hills surrounding his childhood home, was a love he carried on when he got stationed in Mountain Home after serving in Vietnam. He separated from the military in the early 70's, married Betty Horgan, and returned home to Kentucky. A couple years later, they both returned to mountain home and had two children, Dawn and Jason.

Ron became an electrician in the early 70's and started his own business, Thompson Electric, in the 80's. He successfully ran his business into his early 70's but always found something to tinker with after that. He was never known to be "quick" at ANYTHING he did in work or life, but he always got the job, whatever that may have been, done and done right.

Ron may not have been an outgoing kind of guy, but he always enjoyed visiting with family and friends, a cup of coffee and cookie in hand. Each extended conversation included a hard time given, quirky faces, a good laugh and a toothpick in his mouth.

Ron enjoyed coon hunting, deer and elk hunting and fishing, either alone or with family and friends. He also enjoyed woodworking and growing GIANT gardens. He was always willing to help, and would be over to help on "Ron speed", but always got the project completed.

Ron was preceded in death by his father and mother, Joseph Ronald (Jodie) Thompson Sr. and Doris Mae Thompson. He is survived by daughter and son in law Dawn and Gene Palmer, son and daughter in law Jason and Brett Thompson, grandchildren Kassidee, Kelsey, Kaston Palmer and Claire Thompson. Along with four sisters, Donna Thompson, Debbie Johnson, Denise Thompson, Diane Thompson and many nieces, nephews and in laws.

Graveside services will be held August 25, 2025, at 10:00 am in the Mountain View Cemetery located in Mountain Home, Idaho. All flowers and donations can be sent to Rost Funeral Home.

A special thank you to my brother for everything you did for our father. Love You.
