Joseph Wayne Thompson

Pratt - Joseph Wayne Thompson, 51, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025 at his home. He was born on August 1, 1974 in Pratt to Stuart Wayne and Evelyn Kay (Mattingly) Thompson.

Joseph graduated from Cunningham High School, Cunningham Special Ed and Haviland High School. He worked as a janitor at Haviland School for 4 years and saved his money to buy himself an electric guitar and amplifier. He then went on to TECH in Hutchinson. Through TECH Joseph was able to work at Dillon Nature Center, Dillon's, KDOT, Pepsi, Dutch Kitchen and Scheels. He was a member of Church of Christ. Joseph enjoyed playing electric guitar, singing music, doing woodwork and his animals. His family was so proud of his speeches that he did for the Special Olympics.

He is survived by his father, Wayne Thompson of Pratt; mother, Evelyn Thompson of Haviland; aunt, Pam Muntz of Greensburg; and numerous cousins and friends.

Joseph is preceded in death by his grandparents, Orville and Ramona Thompson and Joseph and Ollia Mattingly; aunt, Eldora DeFord; and uncles, Roger Montgomery, Oliver Montgomery and Aubrey Montgomery.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m., Friday, August 29, 2025 at Church of Christ, Pratt with Pastor Steve Triplett and John Hamm presiding.

Memorials may be made to TECH, Arrowhead West or Pratt Area Humane Society. Online condolences may be made at www.larrisonmortuary.com.
