In support of Joe's love of the University of Michigan and the Detroit Lions, everyone is encouraged to wear their team colors to both visitation and services.
Joseph Torolski, 75, of Wyandotte, Michigan and Englewood, Florida died peacefully in his home on November 13, 2025. He was born on August 26, 1950 in Wyandotte, the son of Joseph and Marian (Steinbeck) Torolski.
Joe was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School and Detroit College of Business. He proudly enlisted and served his country with honor in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1973, spending time in Germany, Libya, and Vietnam. After his service, he dedicated his career to the United States Treasury Department as a Special Agent and Supervisory Special Agent. Joe married his wife, Geraldine (Jerri) Taurence, on September 17, 1977, in Wyandotte. For 48 years, they shared a life travelling and attending numerous U of M and Detroit Lions football games. Tailgating at these games were the highlight of the football season. Together they spoiled the many dogs they had during their marriage. Joe enjoyed his annual hunting trips with his father, brother and friends and later included his nieces and nephew. He looked forward to trips to Cabo where he caught marlin and many dorado. He treasured time spent with family and friends.
Joe was an extremely proud Vietnam veteran and was very supportive of law enforcement. He was a past commander of PLAV Post #7 and a lifetime member of the VFW #1136 and Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He was also a member of the FOP, AMVETS, FOE, Moose, Elks, American Legion, and Knights of Columbus, all near their home in Englewood, Florida. (Basically anywhere he could get a cheap drink!)
Joe is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Jerri), his sister Paula (Mickey) Konopka and brother Michael (Kimberly) Torolski. He's also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Michael (Audrey) Taurence, Ann Marie (James) Smith, Jim (Donna) Taurence, Gary Taurence, and Mark (Karen) Taurence. He was an uncle and great uncle to numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews. He will be missed by many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Czopek Funeral Home, 2157 Oak Street, Wyandotte. Funeral services will be Friday, November 21, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 18858 Huron River Drive, New Boston at 10:00 a.m. He will lie in state at 9:30 a.m. Military honors will immediately follow Mass. Interment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a day and time yet to be determined.
