Joseph John Uliasz departed this world to bum around on the eternal beach in the sky on October 1, 2025.
He was born September 28th, 1963, in Nuremberg, Germany to an adventurous mother, Betty Gerhardt Uliasz and the milkman. He was raised by his mom and his hero, John "Pop" Uliasz.
As most Army brats do, he moved frequently as a child. He lived in Germany twice, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts before Pop retired and settled them to what became Joe's beloved hometown of Bradenton, Florida.
A Florida man to his guts, Joe grew up playing in the ocean, swimming in creeks alongside gators, and running from the law, who he'd long decided would never take him alive. Much to his chagrin, however, they did just that on more than one occasion during his misspent youth.
In 1984, Joe followed in Pop's footsteps by enlisting into the Army. He became a father to his little pumpkin, Heather Lynn, while on a base at Fort Bliss. He was injured a few years later and had to retire from the armed services. After several surgeries and a lot of physical therapy, his father-in-law introduced him to a career he'd have a lifelong affinity for-the safe treatment of drinking water.
During this time, he also played copious amounts of volleyball with Heather in his cheer section, and he watched football games with Pop and his little brother Jimi like his life depended on it. He also perfected his golf swing.
In 1990, the apple of his eye, Joseph John Junior was born. Joe started his son on Star Wars and video games the day they brought him home from the hospital.
In the mid-90s he followed his wife to Kentucky. A short time later he found himself a single dad in a state where he'd never lived. He pulled together his resources and tried to be the best parent possible. He fell short sometimes, but that was his only regret in this life. He moved around a bit within the state before settling down in
Lexington, KY.
In 2003, he married Jordanna, the first woman he'd ever seen chase a case of beer with an entire Denny's lumberjack slam and the two were together for 22 years. He and his partner traveled North America in search of the perfect pizza. Some noteworthy pies include a slice at Famous Famiglia in NYC, a slice at House of Pizza in Salem, Massachusetts, the Bollywood pizza at Sam's Indian Food and Pizza in Joshua Tree, California, and local favorites are a pepperoni slice at Goodfellas and an entire 12-inch pepperoni and a chef salad to himself from Giovanni's in
Lexington, KY.
The pair raised five lovely cats and one orange menace who terrorized the south side of Lexington for a decade.
Joe worked for the Commonwealth of Kentucky helping to provide the citizens with safe drinking water since 2016 where he enjoyed time with his coworkers every day.
He leaves behind his wife, Jordanna Uliasz; his children, Joey Uliasz and Heather (Michael) Livengood; granddaughter, Carlee Ward; brother, James (Cindi) Uliasz; sister, Ann (Larry) Swanson; special friend, Leroy Lacroix Brown; brother-in-law, Shane (Maigan) Delong; mother and father-in-law, Vickie Spears (Danny) Delong; and a whole host of nieces and nephews.
When anyone would ask him how he was doing, he would answer, "Living the dream. Everybody wants to be me." And it's true. Joe lived the dream.
Care Cremation and Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with final care.
