Joseph “Lil Joe” Wilson, 67, of Rockport, Texas went to be with the Lord peacefully on August 25, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was known for his generous spirit, his loving heart, his jovial personality, love of fishing, hard work, and devotion to those he loved.

Born on August 29, 1957, in Huntington, West Virginia to Shirley and Joseph Wilson. Joe grew up in Brunswick, Ohio, where he spent every chance he had enjoying the great outdoors and spending his summers back in West Virginia. After graduating from Brunswick High School, Joe joined the United States Air Force.

In 1977, he married the love of his life, Kathy Wilson. Together they built a marriage of 48 years filled with love and devotion. They raised 5 children, instilling in them the values of love, faith, and perseverance.

Joe faithfully served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 18.5 years. After his service, he went on to work for the U.S. Federal Courts. Later in life Lil Joe was able to turn his passion for fishing into a career and fulfilling his lifelong dream to serve as a fishing guide.

He felt closest to God when outdoors, whether fishing, camping, or cheering on his favorites the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Friends and family will always remember his stories, generosity, and love of his children and grandchildren.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Wilson; his children Jeremy (Lisa) Wilson, Brian (Erica) Wilson, Jason Wilson, Crystal Wilson, Emily (Gavyn) Gonzales; grandchildren Samantha, Lily, Joseph Matthew, Keagan, Meadow, Kylie, Hunter, Michael, Wade, River, and soon to be Baby Gonzales and Great Grandbaby; mother Shirley Wilson; brother David (Bobby) Wilson; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will carry his memory forward.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Wilson.

A celebration of Joe’s life will be held on September 6, 2025 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport, Texas. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 PM, with the service beginning at 2:00 PM.

Joe’s legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
