Joseph (Jay) Allan Young passed away on November 15, 2023, at the age of 57. He is survived by his two children, Joseph and Lauren Young, as well as his mother, Kathy Young. He is also survived by his sister, Katy Graves, and her husband Martin, his nephew True Graves, and niece Abby Jorgensen, along with her daughters Maggie and Evie Jorgensen. He is preceded in death by his father, Joe Young, and Abby's late husband, Justin Jorgensen.
Jay will be remembered for his kind heart, infectious smile, and sense of humor. He was known for his outgoing personality and his ability to make anyone feel welcome. He was a loyal friend and never met a stranger.
Jay served on the board of the Oilman's Golf Tournament and the Quarter Century Golf Tournament, as well as the board of the Permian Basin International Oil Show.
In his free time, Jay could often be found on the golf course. He was an avid sports fan and loved supporting his favorite teams, such as The Dallas Cowboys, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and Chicago Cubs. Jay truly loved being outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying nature on the family ranch.
Jay will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness that will never be forgotten.
A celebration of Jay’s life will be held on December 8th, 2023, at Odessa Bible Church at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Reach Recovery (3901 Penbrook Odessa TX) in Jay’s memory.
