Josephine Asaro

Josephine ("Jo") Asaro, age 97, of Shelton, entered into rest on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Griffin Hospital in Derby. Josephine was born in Passaic, NJ, on November 15, 1927, daughter of the late Anthony and Lena (Tumminello) Asaro. She spent most of her life in Astoria, NY before retiring from her managerial position at Citibank in NYC and moving to Spring Hill, FL. Five years ago, she relocated to Shelton, CT to be closer to her cherished family., Jo had a passion for traveling; explored Europe, Hawaii and the Caribbean; enjoyed cooking Italian meals, watching classic movies and loved shopping trips.
She leaves behind her loving sister Mary Yonco, adoring nieces Laura (Yonco) Sheehy and her husband George and Lisa (Yonco) Bisson and her husband Scott; and great-nieces and nephews Thomas, Daniel and Lia Sheehy and Megan and Joseph Bisson. She was predeceased by her dear sister, Lucille Asaro and her brother-in-law, Raymond Yonco.

Friends may greet the family on Friday, February 14 from 9:00 - 9:30 a.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. Her funeral procession will leave for her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church. Her burial will follow at Mount St. Mary Cemetery, 172-00 Booth Memorial Avenue, Flushing, NY.
