Josephine Capace, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, at 84 years old. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Capace.
Born Josephine Hoynack in Brooklyn, NY, Jo was raised by her parents Josephine and Matthew and always surrounded by her beloved sisters, Kathlene and Annie who survive her and Katherine, Jaqueline, and Ellen who predeceased her. Jo made life-long bonds in Brooklyn, including her cherished friend Christy and her future husband Thomas Capace.
Jo and Thomas were married in 1963. They had three sons, Thomas, Steven and Christopher and Jo welcomed three daughters-in-law into her family. Jo was a proud and loving grandmother to seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who were truly the joy of her life. As a parent and grandparent, Jo was always present for life's big and small milestones from sporting events to graduations and holiday gatherings. Her selflessness, feisty spirit and stead-fast loyalty will be lovingly cherished by everyone who had the chance to know her.
A celebration of Jo's life will be held on October 7 at 11am at St. Clare's Church on Staten Island, NY.
