Josephine A. "Downey" Casillo

Josephine A. (Downey) Casillo, 101, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Shrewsbury Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Eugene J. Casillo, who passed in 1979.

Josephine leaves her devoted children, Eugene J. Casillo, Jr. and his wife Marta, of Lake May, FLA, John F. Casillo and his wife Cynthia, of Shrewsbury, Cheryl A. Casillo, of Shrewsbury, and Kevin S. Casillo and his husband Robert Wolkowski, of San Diego, CA; her adoring grandchildren, Maria, Kelly, Danielle, Derek, Ryan, Taryn, and Marissa; 13 great grandchildren:, Adrienne, Kelsey, Isabella, Olivia, Reese, Mia, Madison, Jack, Brett, Anna, John, Elise, and Benjamin; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, John Downey, Edward Downey, Mary Kelley, and Thomas Downey.

Josephine was born in Worcester, daughter of the late John F. and Josephine A. (Vallely) Downey. She was educated in Worcester as well and attended Commerce High School.

Josephine's passion was taking care of her family, always playing hostess at many family functions throughout the years. She had worked at Micro Tech for many years as well as volunteering her time for St. Mary's School Lunch Program and Saint Anne's Church Free Clinic.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Casillo family from 9 – 10:15 AM on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury, with a funeral Mass to follow at 11 AM, which will be celebrated at Saint Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Burial will be held at Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
