Josephine Mary "Jody" Hayden, of Eden, Vermont, cherished wife, mother, sister and grandmother, passed away peacefully on 12/22/2024 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Burlington, VT on 1/7/1946 to Donald Lynch Hayden and Catherine Mario Hayden. She grew up in South Burlington on Dorset Street with her 5 rambunctious brothers. They admired their only sister's strength, grace and boundless love and she held a very special place in their lives. Their small house was always filled with laughter and the smell of her mom's great Italian cooking. Jody graduated from Rice Memorial High School in 1964 and attended Champlain College. She went on to earn a degree from the Community College of VT in 2002.
Her professional career was marked by dedication and excellence. In the 1970s she worked for Digital Equipment Corp and later served as a Senior Administrator at CCV in Morrisville, where she made lasting contributions to the college community.
Jody and her first husband, the late Michael Trono, had 2 children, Tammy and Todd. They brought her great happiness, and she was so very proud of them. She was blessed again when Tammy gave her two loving granddaughters, Noel and Catherine.
Jody married her beloved husband, Michael "Mike" Hayden, in 1984. Together they built a life filled with wonderful memories in the picturesque town of Eden. Jody shared a warm relationship with Mike's children, Jennifier and Matthew, enjoying her extended family. She loved the countryside, snowmobiling, gardening and decorating her adored farmhouse. Jody enjoyed riding around in their big, green Jeep and traveling to Maine. An accomplished cook like her Mom, she delighted in making delicious meals for her family during the holidays.
Her Catholic faith was a cornerstone of Jody's life. She found solace and strength in daily prayer and in her favorite scripture, "God will lead us to springs of living water and He will wipe away every tear from our eyes." Her devotion to her faith inspired those around her.
Jody is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, Mike Hayden, daughter Tammy Trono, son Todd Trono (Erika), granddaughters Noel and Catherine Berthiaume and her five adoring brothers and their wives - Don (Rosemary), Hal (Peggy), Dick-in-Heaven (Joanne), Rod (Betsy) and Tom (Sondra) and her stepchildren Jennifier and Matthew Hayden.
Jody's family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Green Mountain Nursing Home for their care and kindness during her final days. Donations in Jody's memory may be made to Green Mountain Nursing Home, Community College of Vermont, and the Alzheimer's Association.
A Catholic Mass and a celebration of Jody's life will be held at a later date. Jody will be remembered for her loving spirit, unwavering faith, and the lasting legacy she leaves behind in the hearts of all who knew her. Memorial contributions in Jody's memory may be made to Green Mt. Nursing Home, 475 Ethan Allen Ave. Colchester, VT 05446, Community College of Vt, P.O. Box 489, Attn: Development, Montpelier, VT 05601 or the Alzheimer Foundation of America, 322 8th Ave, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001.

It was with great sadness that I read of Jody's passing. Jim and I were classmates at Rice Memorial with Jody. She was a lot of fun to be around and a very talented captain of the Rice Majorettes. May she rest in our loving and merciful God's arms.
