A memorial service will be held at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Saturday, July 5, 2025. The Rosary will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by the service at 10:00 AM. A family memorial gathering will take place afterward at the Mesa Salon Event Center, located at 504 East 2nd Street.
Josephine Emma Ortiz Maes was born on February 6, 1947, in Roswell, New Mexico, to Inacio and Arcenia B. Ortiz. She married Eloy Maes and had three children: Angela Maes, Eloy Maes Jr., and Melanie Maes. She was blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cherished memories of Josephine will be held forever by her children, Angela and Eloy Maes Jr.; her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her four brothers, John, Manuel, Robert, and Faustino Ortiz; her four sisters, Vicky Yates, Cecelia Vasquez, Olivia Gallegos, and Sofie Artiaga; as well as several nieces, nephews, and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ignacio and Arcenia Ortiz; her husband, Eloy Maes; her daughter, Melanie Maes; and two brothers, Henry Ortiz and Ismael Ortiz.
