Josephine Olivia Oropeza, 91, passed away on Holy Thursday, April 17th, 2025. She was born on June 23, 1933, in Houston, Texas, to Eugene Losoya and Juanita Monsebaiz Gomez.
Josie was a woman of deep faith, kindness, and generosity. A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she lived a life rooted in service and compassion. For over 40 years, she was an active parishioner at St. Christopher Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and participated in both the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Legion of Mary.
Josie worked at Nabisco for more than twenty years, remaining with the company until she retired. She enjoyed travelling with her husband and visited many countries including Russia, the Czech Republic, Yugoslavia, Poland, and other European countries. Josie also took great pleasure in gardening, baking, attending church events, and spending time with family and friends.
Josie was preceded in death by her beloved parents; her husband, Nick Oropeza, Sr; her daughter, Patricia Ann Oropeza; her son, Nick Oropeza, Jr.; siblings, Beatrice Barragan, Eugene Losoya, Richard Losoya, Joe Lozolla, and Gloria Delgado.
Josie leaves behind those who loved her deeply, including her son, Michael Oropeza; her daughter, Cathy Oropeza Simonds and husband, Robert; her sister, Angie Perez and husband Tony; her brother, Paul Gomez and wife Yolanda; her treasured grandchildren, Christopher, Joel, Lauren, and Nicole; many nephews and nieces; and a large extended family and lifetime of dear friends.
Josie’s gentle spirit and generous heart will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
