Joshua Bennett Levy

Joshua B. "Josh" Levy, of Lowell, MA, passed away on June 29, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on March 31, 1947, in New Rochelle, NY, Josh was the beloved son of the late Haskell and Beatrice Levy.
Josh took great pride in his education and lifelong love of learning. He received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin in 1977, followed by a Master of Science in Operations Research from Cornell University in 1983. He went on to share his passion for mathematics as a longtime Adjunct Professor at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Outside of academia, Josh was known for his enduring enthusiasm for baseball, his dedication to regular exercise, and his insatiable curiosity in furthering his knowledge of mathematics even into his later years.
Josh is survived by his son Aaron and daughter-in-law Katie, and his cherished granddaughter Carolyn, all of Washington, D.C. He will also be remembered by his former spouse, Deborah Levy of Albany, NY and several cousins.
Josh was interred alongside his parents in a private funeral in Hawthorne, NY.
