Joshua Matthews Obituary

Joshua Howard Matthews

January 12, 1976 ~ April 4, 2023

Our beloved dad, son, brother and uncle Josh passed away on April 4th, 2023. Josh was born January 12, 1976 to the very proud parents of Howard Douglas Matthews and Gail Green Matthews.

Josh was the eldest of six beautiful children and is survived by his parents, sisters; Annie May (Zak) Hansen, Amanda (Clint) Rasmussen, brothers; Makay Douglas (Shannon) Matthews, and Patrick John Matthews. He was a loving dad to Riley Silas Sharp and daughter Kelsea May Matthews, uncle to five fun loving nephews; Jordan, CJ, Mason, Connor, and Landon, and seven beautiful nieces; Ava, Olivia, Trish, Mackenzie, Claire, Lucy and Lila.

He is preceded in death by his brother Harrison, grandparents; Douglas and Elaine Matthews and Elden and Barbara Green, Uncles; David Matthews and Gregory Matthews, cousins; Nickolas Green and Brennan Green.

Josh had the biggest heart, and was such a compassionate, loyal and generous person. He was a loving father who lived for his children. He was intelligent, quick-witted, and loved to tease. His interests were skiing, fly fishing and spending time outdoors. He attended Bingham High School and took a trade course in framing homes. This began a career in the construction industry where he designed and sold trusses. He had an opportunity at one point to work for a company that required him to travel to many locations throughout the United States, as well as travel overseas to Germany, and some of the surrounding countries. Josh made many new lifelong friends while on his travels. At the time of his death he was employed at Truss Plant as a truss designer.

Words cannot describe how much we will all miss you Josh, and God be with you till we meet again.

A viewing will be held at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah 84020, on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00, and Tuesday afternoon for one hour, from 1:00 to 2:00. Graveside services will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, immediately following the viewing.

I knew Josh and his sweet family all of my childhood. Josh was so fun and sat next to me on the bus and made me laugh all the way to and from school. My heart goes out to all who's lives he touched.
