Joshua (Josh) David McConnell, 31, passed away June 10, 2025, from injuries due to an auto accident. He was born July 13, 1993. Survivors are his mother, Colene McConnell (Chad King); father, George McConnell; brothers Jaron and Jason McConnell; niece, TierraRay McConnell-Costas; grandparents Gary and Sandy Biber, Jannette Sharp McConnell; and aunt, Karla Biber; and many other relatives and friends.
Josh graduated from Topeka West High School in 2011. He was in JROTC and his passion was music. He lettered all four years in the Topeka West Charger Band. He was a member of the Topeka West Jazz Ensemble. He traveled with the Charger Band to many marching festivals where the band won many awards.
Josh was a member of Crestview United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Youth Group.
Josh joined the U.S. Army soon after high school and served three years. After his military service he worked in carpentry and construction. Josh was very close to his family and loved family dinners and celebrations of any sort. His loving and generous nature lives on as the chose to be an organ donor and his wishes have been granted. Many other individuals and their families will live on because of Josh’s love and generosity.
Services will be private for the family. Memorial donations may be sent to Penwell Gable Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66604 to be designated by the family later – checks are to be made out to Gary L. Biber.
