Joshua Matthew Myers, 47, died on July 23, 2024, in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Born on October 19, 1976, to William H. Myers and Edith Myers, Josh was known from an early age for his quick wit and his caring nature. He made friends wherever he went and was loyal to his many friends and family.
Josh received a degree in Political Science from the University of Southern Mississippi. After graduating from USM, he followed in his father’s footsteps, receiving a law degree from Mississippi College. He was employed by FEMA as a financial management specialist where he was recognized as the Mississippi Recovery Office employee of the year.
Josh’s most important role in life was being a father. His devotion and love for Sophia was evident to all that knew and loved him. Sophia inherited her father’s sense of humor and the two of them shared an unbreakable bond going on adventures, fishing, and playing practical jokes on the unsuspecting. After Sophia’s passing, Josh continued to fight for a cure for DIPG and was a huge support for families that had been devastated by the disease.
Josh had a thirst for knowledge and was constantly Googling or watching YouTube videos and there was not a useless fact that he did not know. He enjoyed completing chores for his family, running, and most of all curating a beautiful resting spot for Sophia. He worked on her site every day and often stated that was the only way he would still care for her.
Josh is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Peter and Mary Mehalco; fraternal grandparents, Price and Margret Myers; his father, Judge William H. Myers; his nephew's Matthew and Christian Myers: and the light of life, his daughter, Sophia Ann Myers.
He is survived by his mother, Edith Myers; sister, Julie Myers (Robin McDearmon); brother, William H. Myers (Brigette); and nephew, Price Myers.
