Joshua Shelton, 41 of Carroll, died Monday, January 22, 2024 from injuries received in an automobile accident.
Per the family's request, private funeral services will be held.

Joshua Austin Shelton was quiet, reserved, and in the background, but when you needed him, he was there.
Joshua Austin Shelton was born in Austin, Texas on February 26, 1982, to William Lawrence Shelton and Christy Anne Cott. Joshua passed away in a car accident, January 22, 2024, along with his daughter, Aubrey Anne.
Joshua graduated from Jefferson High School in Jefferson, Iowa in 2000. He joined the United States Army in May of 2002 and was a member of the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment and serviced in Iraq 2003-2004.
He married Amanda Marie Hunt on June 28, 2014. He had five children: Seth, Dana, Amara, Aubrey and Hazel and was a dog daddy to two beautiful Akitas Koda and Nala.
Joshua was a jack of all trades and was proficient in carpentry, glass and windshield replacement, carpet and flooring, and most recently worked for Sloth Painting in Carroll painting and finishing woodwork.
He had a green thumb and raised a beautiful garden which he preserved. A lover of houseplants, his house was full. Joshua like to work with his hands and build things. He loved nature and was a lover of the outdoors. He liked to cook and smoke meat and enjoyed canning and jelly making.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Amanda; children: Dana, Seth, Amara and Hazel of his home; his mother: Christy Anne Buff of South Carolina; a sister, Heather Raine Shelton; nieces and nephews: Hailey, Malachi, Olivia, Zoe and Zephyr all of Lake City, IA; his brother: Jacob Lawrence Shelton, wife Carrie Holm; nieces and nephews: Liam, Annabella, Juniper, Scarlett, and Hendrix all of Grinnell, Iowa; mother-in-law: Renee Moore of Carroll; his brothers-in-law: Jesse and Jerry (Kay) nephews and nieces: Jayden, Max, and Julian; with 1 on the way.
Joshua's father, William Shelton, preceded him in death in 1993.
