Joshua James Tieken, known affectionately as Josh to his friends and family, passed away on June 20, 2025, at Deaconess Gateway after a valiant battle with brain cancer. Born on March 13, 1990, in
Evansville, Indiana, to Richard and Marina Tieken, Josh's life was a testament to his strength, compassion, and unwavering faith.
Josh was a 2008 graduate of Central High School, where he was an active member of the JROTC program, demonstrating early on his commitment to discipline and service. After high school, he found a professional home at Berry Plastics, where he worked for many years until his diagnosis. His dedication to his work was only surpassed by his commitment to his faith, as he was a proud member of the Cornerstone Assembly of God on Kratzville Road in
Evansville, Indiana.
He married the love of his life, Katrina, and together they welcomed their son, River, who was the apple of Josh's eye. His family was his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Josh was a loving brother to Shana Egan (Dustin) and a doting uncle to Kenzley and Colt Egan. He was a cherished nephew to Vance, Lance, and Larry Roy, as well as Randy, Rodney Tieken, and Robin Boze (Ralph). His family tree was deeply rooted in love, and he was preceded in death by his grandparents Jack and Clara Roy, Joseph and Avetta Tieken, and uncles John Roy Jr III, Robert Tieken, and Gary Tieken.
Josh's Christian faith was the cornerstone of his life. He lived his beliefs and loved Jesus above all. His interests were as vibrant and varied as his personality. An avid fan of Batman, UFC, and wrestling, Josh also enjoyed video games and dancing. His love for these pastimes was infectious, much like his contagious smile, which he generously shared with everyone he met on his journey through life.
Those who knew Josh will remember him as a man of great character, whose laughter and joy were as steadfast as his faith. He faced his illness with the same courage and grace that he carried throughout his life. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and the power of faith, which will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
Josh's life was a beautiful reflection of his heart: full of passion, purpose, and unwavering love for his family and his God. As we say goodbye to Joshua James Tieken, we also celebrate the profound impact he made on the lives of those around him. His spirit, though no longer in our presence, will forever be felt in the hearts of those he touched. Josh's journey on earth has ended, but his story will continue to be told by those who loved him most.
The family would like to thank the staff at Deaconess Gateway fourth floor ICU, The Heritage Center, Deaconess Home Health and his caretaker Pam Beauchamp for their kindness during this most difficult time. Additionally, to everyone that donated their time and efforts for his continued treatments and medications while at Moffatt Cancer Center.
