JOSHUA WHITEMAN Obituary

JOSHUA DYLAN WHITEMAN Joshua Dylan Whiteman, age 28, passed away on March 14, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 22, 2024, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest. Interment to follow in McAlister Cemetery. In the vast expanses of the Oklahoma Sky, where stars burn brightly against the dark canvas of the universe. Joshua Dylan Whiteman, lovingly know as "Joshy", Big Savage, Chief carried the light of heritage and humor through his 28 years of vibrant and adventurous life. Born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on February 27, 1996, and raised in the heart of Lone Grove, Joshua's journey carved paths through the hearts of all he encountered until his journey reached its horizon in Texas, on March 14, 2024. Joshua emanated a presence larger than life itself, a reflection of his towering stature and the depth of his spirit. He was educated at Lone Grove High School and graduated Cum Laude from OSU/ Tech, Okmulgee Branch in 2016. Josh carried the torch of his ancestors proudly as a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation and descendant of Choctaw and Cheyenne-Arapahoe tribes. A cherished son of Robin Jones-Cady and Joe Cady, brother to Zachary Whiteman, Brandon Whiteman, Wyatt Cady and Dakota Cady, Joshua's professional journey as a apprentice lineman saw him traverse the electric lines from Eastern Oklahoma to the depths of Louisiana and Mississippi, and finally to the heartland of Texas. An avid lover of fishing, golf, music, history, and the great outdoors. Joshua's interests were at vast as the landscapes he traversed. His guitar and harmonica were extensions of his soul. Josh's passion for his Native American culture and the histories he so loved, were gifts he generously shared, enriching the lives of those around him. Joshua's humor was a beacon of joy, a reminder that life is to be lived and laughed through. His friendships were sanctuaries of trust, advice and unwavering support. His recent return to faith and dedication to his spiritual journey at First Baptist, was a blend of love and light of his eternal soul. Joshua was preceded in death by his "Granny", Tia Jones, a brother Wyatt Cady and great grandfather Jerry Copeland. Josh's spirit is carried forward in the hearts of his loving parents, brothers, cousins, friends, present Co - workers of AEP, and former colleagues. In a world where paths cross in the labyrinth of life, Josh was a guiding light, a protector, a story teller and a cherished son. Pallbearers are Zachary Whiteman, Brandon Whiteman, Bryar Blanton, Ryder Naymik, Nate Davis, Trent McCorkle, Dakota Cady, Dawson Loggains, Alexa Hartman, Caitlin McDaniel, Kaytlynn Johnson and Torrance Ned. Honorary pallbearer: Josh's Labrador Retriever, "KOE", who now lives with Robin and Joe, known as "Mimi and Papa". In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Ardmore Animal Shelter, 321 Carol Browne Blvd, Ardmore, Okla. 73401 As we bid farewell to Joshua, we embrace his final rallying cry, "Let Roll!", carrying forward his adventurous spirit, his laughter and the wisdom he shared far beyond his years. Joshua's voyage through life was a journey of joy, discovery, and profound connections, leaving a light for us to follow and enduring love. Condolences may be left at www.griffinhillcrest.com.
