Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harder Funeral Home - Brookfield on Dec. 8, 2025.
Joshua David Williams, loved by many as "Seiz," was born in
Milwaukee, WI, on February 23, 1979, to his loving mother, Michelle Altman, and surrounded by a family that was beyond excited to welcome him into the world. I recently read his baby book, and Michelle's words were, "I was stunned he was so perfect."
And he truly was.
From the moment he could speak, Josh adored his mother. Even as a small boy, he would tell us he wanted her to be happy - one of the earliest signs of the enormous, tender heart he carried throughout his life. Their bond was its own kind of love: deep, protective, and unbreakable. His heart loved her endlessly.
Josh played so many roles in our lives - father, grandfather, big brother, cousin, nephew, uncle, friends who were family to him, and dog dad to Gunner. He meant something different to each of us, but to all of us, he mattered - deeply. Our tribe just got smaller, quieter, and forever changed.
His children - Domenico, Cecilia, Lilly, and Ellie - were a part of his soul. Each had a special place in his heart. Ellie, his youngest, was daddy's little girl - the light in his eyes, the joy he carried. Cecilia has said, "He changed my life forever." And in Domenico's own words - a reflection of their bond: "I will always have a hole in my heart without you here. I'm your mini me." That is who Josh was. He changed people - by loving them, by showing up for them, by being someone they could rely on. To know him was to feel the impact of his presence. To be loved by him was a gift.
Josh lived with a heart that reached people deeply. He was real. He was loyal. He was protective. If you needed him, he came. He gave his time, his hands, his heart without hesitation.
Josh was creative and expressive - he loved music, writing, and drawing. Music wasn't just something he enjoyed; it was a part of who he was. It lived in him. You can hear his spirit in the songs he wrote and sang over the years. He had grit and he had heart. He was also incredibly gifted with his hands, a builder in every sense. He could fix anything, make anything, or figure out anything - in his hands, he held the gift of creating. It came naturally to him, and creating through his music and with his hands was where he felt most like himself. And he dreamed big. His Gramere called him "the dreamer grandchild," and she saw him clearly: someone who held onto hope, who imagined more for himself, who believed he was capable of anything.
He is too young to be gone. Losing him has shattered us. But the love he gave - remains. It always will.
And so, as we honor his life, we hold close the truth of who he was:
His hands built things we could hold.
His heart built things we could feel.
He was strong in ways that weren't loud,
loving in ways you didn't need words to understand,
and loyal in ways only those who truly knew him understood.
He dreamed big,
loved deeply,
and left us with pieces of himself
we will carry for the rest of our lives.
Though he has gone ahead,
what he created in this world -
his music, his work, his kindness,
his love -
remains.
And now, though he walks beyond our sight,
the song of his life plays on
in every memory,
every story,
every heart he touched.
Play on, Seiz.
Your music lives forever.
May he rest in peace, and may we honor him by holding tight to the love he gave us.
He leaves behind a family who will forever carry his memory:
His loving mother, Michelle Altman, whom he loved endlessly;
his father, Dale Westerbeek;
his children, Domenico, Cecilia, Lilly and Ellie;
his sister, Alexis;
grandchildren Alessandro and Elena;
his niece, Aurorah;
his aunt Cheri ("Momma 2," as he called her);
his uncles Neal and Lee;
cousins Adam, Nicole, Jason, Cindy, and Casey;
his loyal companion, Gunner;
and countless friends, who became family, whose lives he touched.
Josh left this world on November 30, 2025, and is reunited in eternal life with:
his brother, Ryan Altman;
his grandparents, Janet "Gramere" Williams and Leslie Williams;
his great-grandparents, Tom and Blanche Peltier;
and his aunt, Kathleen "Sassy" Pongracic, who now all hold him close - wrapped in the same love that surrounded him when he was young.
Joshua's life will be honored with the same love, spirit, laughter, stories, and music he brought into this world.
Forever missed.
Forever remembered.
Forever celebrated.
Joshua (aka Seiz) will be forever loved, and forever ours.
