In Loving Memory of Josie Martinez Duque
FORT WORTH - Josie Martinez Duque, 67, entered into Gods hands on the morning of Friday, January 24, 2025, with her beloved husband of 45 years by her side.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2025, in Memorial Suite A at Greenwood Funeral Home, 3344 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76107. The funeral will take place at 12 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2025 in Greenwood's Live Oak Chapel, 3100 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76107, with interment to follow in Greenwood Memorial Park.
Josie Martinez Duque was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was born in Morton, Texas, on March 19, 1957, but resided in Fort Worth for most of her life. She was proud to say she attended and graduated from Northside High School, where she made cherished memories as a cheerleader. Josie married the love of her life, John Duque Sr., on June 27, 1980. Their 45-year love story embodies strength, unity, love, and laughter, a bond that could never be severed. They enjoyed exploring the city, spending time with family and friends, and dancing the night away. When they danced together, they were the stars of any dance floor. Together, they were inseparable. They were also successful and dedicated business owners, well known in the Northside Stockyards Community.
Josie was the matriarch and a strong force in her family. She adored her sons and was a proud 'Grandmama' to her precious grandchildren. She was crazy about her fur babies, who were her perfect companions. To her many nieces and nephews, Josie will forever be remembered as the cherished, loving, and stylish aunt who always thought of them especially on their birthdays. She was known for driving them around in her Corvette and new cars, hosting coffee nights at her dining table, and being the glue that kept family traditions alive for Christmas Eve and Easter celebrations.
Josie will be tremendously missed by her husband, children, siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family, and many lifelong friends. We will miss her laughter, her jokes, her life lessons, her style, and her grace. Though we grieve her loss, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with family, wearing her signature pink lipstick, and rejoicing in the presence of her Savior.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nieves and Sally Martinez; her older brothers and sister, Nieves "Snow" Martinez Jr., Robert Martinez Sr., and Mary Velasquez Gonzales; and her younger brother and sister, Sammy Martinez and Christine Martinez Wilson.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, John Duque; her sons, John Duque Jr. (Nacona) and their daughter, Ashlynn, Jason Duque (Jackie) and their children, Madison and Maddox and Jonathan Duque (Kenzie) and their daughters, Ari Capri, Piper Snow and Harper Micah. She also leaves behind her brother, Willie Martinez; her sisters, Lucy Cervantez (Jesse) and Stella Ortiz (David); and her brother-in-law, Steven Wilson. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and Cecilia Hill, who was raised as her daughter.
