Los Angeles, California, to her father, Booker T. Washington, and her late mother, Dolly Adams, Jossalyn's life was one filled with joy, care, and the laughter of those she cherished. She attended Carver Elementary and later graduated from Dominguez High School in Compton, California, proudly carrying the strength, community, and spirit she gained there throughout her life. Her union with Henry Helms welcomed two sons, Christopher Helms, Sr., and Keiron Helms Sr.
Jossalyn's journey was marked by her dedication to her family, which remained her pride and joy throughout her life. She made her home in Las Vegas, Nevada, where Jossalyn shared a meaningful chapter of her life with her life partner, Albee Lee Richardson. They enjoyed sports, food, music, and their dogs together. After his passing, she returned to California, choosing Hemet so she could be near her sons and grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Chris and Keiron Helms, and by her father, Booker T. Washington. She also leaves behind her sister, Brandye Washington, her loving daughter-in-law, Rosalind (Chris Sr.), and her sister-in-law, Gienne (Steven Sr.). Her precious grandchildren, Keiron Jr., Kiara, Christopher Jr., and Jeremiah, and her cherished great-grandchildren, Nora and J.J., continue to honor her legacy. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephew, LaCretia, Steven Jr., Krystle, Stefanie, and Tiana, as well as a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Dolly Adams, her brother, Steven, her sister, Christie, and her stepfather, Bobby Adams, with whom she is now reunited.
Her professional life was characterized by compassion and care as she served as a Certified Nurse Assistant for 12 years, first in Los Angeles and later at the Cherry Hills Club in
Sun City, California. Jossalyn's nurturing spirit and expert care left a lasting impact on all those she served. Jossalyn's interests were as diverse as they were heartfelt. She found great pleasure in cooking and baking, often sharing her delightful creations with family and friends. Crocheting and reading books were among her favorite pastimes, providing her with moments of tranquility and reflection. A true fan of television, she enjoyed unwinding in front of her favorite shows. As an ardent Chargers fan, she never missed a game, cheering on her team with unrivaled enthusiasm.
Her pride and joy, beside her family, was her beloved dog Pepe Washington, who proudly believed he ran the entire household. Pepe never left her side, always ready for a snack, a cuddle, or to remind everyone that he was Jossalyn's favorite four-legged child. She loved riding in Chris Sr.'s lowrider and cheering loudly at CJ's basketball games, often yelling, "This is my house, CJ!" with pride and excitement. She was frequently visited by her grandson KJ, who always brought an extra dose of joy to her day, and the two shared a bond like no other. She and Ron were true foodies, always keeping snacks nearby and sharing little treats to pass the time together.
Above all, Jossalyn, a devoted Mother, grandmother, and Auntie, reveled in time spent with her children, grandchildren, and nephew and nieces, embracing every moment of laughter and love. She was the epitome of cleanliness and order, often found polishing and perfecting her home, creating a space of warmth and welcome for all who entered. Her love for music, especially Oldies, filled her home with melodies and memories, reflecting her vibrant and youthful spirit. Known for her strength of will, sharp mind, and unwavering positivity, she inspired all who knew her. Jossalyn also had a unique flair for colorful expression, turning cussing into an art form that could make anyone laugh, a signature part of her unforgettable personality.

As a Mother, Grandma, Sister, Auntie, Cousin, and Friend, she poured love into everyone she cared for, creating bonds that will remain unbroken.
