Jovonne Marie Mosher, known affectionately as Jojo to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2024, at Sparrow Health System in Lansing, Michigan. Born on June 22, 1964, in Lansing, she was a beacon of love and gentleness throughout her 59 years of life. Jovonne was the cherished daughter of the late Russell Allman and her surviving mother, Barbara Lockwood.
Jovonne's life was marked by her unwavering devotion to her family. She is survived by her adoring mother, Barbara Lockwood; her only daughter, Kiley (Matthew) Moffit; and her beloved grandson, Myles Moffit. Jovonne also leaves behind her stepmother, Brenda Allman, and her siblings, Bruce (Holly) Cochrane, Yvonne (Salem) Allman, Todd (Jennifer) Allman, Sean (Shannon) Tinkle, and Heather (Doug) Koons, along with many treasured nieces and nephews. Each family member was touched by her loving nature and will carry forward her legacy of kindness.
A proud graduate of Williamston High School, Jovonne furthered her education with some college, demonstrating her commitment to personal growth and lifelong learning. Her professional life was characterized by over two decades of dedicated service at Meijer, where she was not only a valued employee but also a friend to many. To Jovonne, nobody who had the pleasure of interacting with her was a stranger. Her colleagues will remember her gentle spirit and the warmth she brought to the workplace every day.
Jovonne's interests and hobbies were a reflection of her love for life and the simple joys it brings. She found comfort in the companionship of her dog, Bella, with whom she loved to snuggle. Her passion for her family and friends was unparalleled, and she cherished every moment spent with them. The beach and being by the water were sources of serenity for Jovonne, and she could often be found basking in the tranquility of these natural settings.
An avid Hallmark movie watcher, Jovonne even had a special Hallmark blanket that was a staple during her movie marathons. Her love for classic cars was a nod to her upbringing in a family full of mechanics, and she enjoyed the thrill of derby cars and loud engines. These interests were more than pastimes; they were integral parts of her identity and the stories she shared.
The words that best describe Jovonne are loving and gentle. She approached life with a softness and a strength that inspired those around her. As Helen Keller once said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched-they must be felt with the heart." Jovonne lived by this philosophy, touching the hearts of all who knew her with her compassion and grace.
Jovonne's life was a testament to the power of love and the impact one person can have on the lives of many. Her memory will be cherished and her presence deeply missed. As we say goodbye to Jovonne, we celebrate the beauty she brought into the world and the gentle footprint she leaves on the hearts of those who loved her.
