Ms. Joy Byrd

Ms. Edna Joy Carpenter Byrd, age 68, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed from this life Monday, September 29, 2025, at the home of her son in Bonanza, Arkansas.

She was born to Dennie Ferris and Marjorie Joy Youngblood Carpenter on October 10, 1956, in De Queen, Arkansas. Joy graduated from Gillham High School and went on to two years of college. She was cattle farmer and a gardener. Joy enjoyed fishing, cooking, tending to her cattle, quilting, flowers, and hanging out with her granddaughter, Marlie.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Pamela Carpenter Davis.

Joy leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Michael Byrd and his fiancé Tasha Walter of Bonanza, Arkansas; a daughter, Amanda Joy Byrd of De Queen; five grandchildren, Marlie, Dennie, Zoe, Ancelina, and Alessio, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

General viewing will be held Friday, October 3, 2025 from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Chandler Funeral Home in De Queen. Cremation will follow. A private inurnment will be held at a later date in Valley Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, Arkansas.
