It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joy Marie DeWyre on May 21, 2025, at the age of 77. Joy was born on April 8,1948 in Mondovi, WI to Maurice and Donna Fredrickson.
Joy met the love of her life and married Mike DeWyre on May 9, 1975 (50 years). Joy was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, and love and support for her family, friends, church, and community.
After retiring from UW River Falls after 37 years, Joy kept busy by doing things she loved, gardening at the farm, quilting, crocheting, baking, cooking, going to the grandkids sporting events, and even having time to have that cup of coffee or lunch with new acquaintances or her lifelong friends.
Joy is survived by her husband Mike; sons Chad (Cammi) and Scott, grandchildren Keegen and Addison; sister Holly (Jim) Hesselman, brother David (Theresa) Fredrickson, sisters-in-law Darcy Fredrickson, Judy Lincoln, Mary DeWyre, Linda DeWyre; brother-in-law Larry (Karen) DeWyre; and several loving nephews, nieces, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her brothers Jon and Jerry and her parents.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Joy’s name to the Mondovi Garden Club, Central Lutheran Church, or the Mondovi Public Library.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi with Pastor Mara Ahles-Iverson officiating. A memorial gathering will be held at Central Lutheran on Wednesday, May 28 from 10:00AM until the hour of the service.
