Joy L Horton

Joy L. Horton, aged 64, of Plano, IL, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. Born on November 16, 1960, to William Horton and Gladys (Finney) Horton.

Joy had a deep love for animals, especially dogs and cats. She had a passion for antique hunting and cherished lunch dates and fun times with her sister and many friends. One of her favorite traditions was the annual Mother's Day flower hunting, followed by lunch and delightful shenanigans. Joy also found great joy in planting flowers, gardening, and spending time outdoors.

Joy spent many happy years with her life partner, Dennis Ray Sewell, until his passing on February 6, 2025. She dedicated over 40 years to Jewel Osco in the bakery department. Alongside her sister, Sandy, Joy owned and operated the longtime family business, "The Ranch," in Plano, IL. Joy's warm smile greeted everyone she encountered, and she was dearly loved by all. Her kindness and genuine joy touched the lives of many, making her a beloved partner, daughter, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed.

Joy is survived by her sister, Sandra Hubert of Bourbonnais, IL, and her many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gladys; her life partner, Dennis Ray Sewell; and her brother-in-law, John Thomas Hubert.

A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 West South Street, Plano, IL. Interment will be private. Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until the hour of service on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at the Funeral Home in Plano, IL.
