Joy J. Lapp

Rosendale - Joy J Lapp, 85, of Rosendale passed away peacefully on Friday January 3, 2025 at Vassar Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, July 21, 1939, a daughter of the late Louis Evans and Mary Evans. Joy was employed as a school bus driver for the Rondout Valley CSD for 30 years and was a mail carrier for the Kerhonkson post office. She also worked as a custodian for the Rondout Valley CSD a short term before her retirement. Joy was a second mother and grandmother to many and always would put a smile on everyone's face. She enjoyed going on gambling trips and playing bingo on Sundays and hanging out with her Park Heights family. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren at family gatherings. She cherished the time she got to spend with her great grandson. She is survived by a daughter Kelli Ricci and her husband Rich of New Paltz, 3 sons, Nicholas Lapp and his wife Cheryl, Todd Lapp and his wife Laurie. Timothy Lapp and companion Colleen Turner, all of Accord. 5 grandchildren, Allison and her fiancé Robert, Devyn, Richard III and his companion Katherine, Hunter and Carter. One great grandson, Mason and several nieces and nephews. Her former husband Leroy Lapp and a brother, Van Evans died previously. Her wishes were to be cremated and buried alongside her former husband, parents and brother and his wife. A graveside service and celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
