Joyce Foresyth "Miss America", a beacon of love and joy, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on November 14, 1948, in Dothan, Alabama, Joyce was the cherished daughter of the late Cliff and Mildred Knight. Her life was a testament to the power of positivity and the strength of family bonds.
Joyce's early years in Dothan were filled with the lively sounds of marching band music, where she shone brightly as an amazing majorette at Carver High School. Her grace and spirit were evident in every performance, and these traits carried her through a life full of laughter, song, and dance. Joyce's love for life was infectious, and she never missed an opportunity to spread happiness wherever she went.
After graduating, Joyce dedicated herself to her family, embodying the roles of a loving mother and devoted wife with unwavering commitment. Her children were the center of her world, and she instilled in them the values of hard work and the importance of cherishing every moment. Joyce's professional life was marked by her tenure as the head supervisor at the Mark II hotel in Panama City Beach, Florida. Her leadership was characterized by wisdom and encouragement, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those she guided and mentored.
Joyce's legacy is carried on by her loving family, including her devoted children, Tawana (Freddie) Thomas, Tesa Foresyth, Turi (Bridgette) Foresyth, and Taurus (Lakeshia) Foresyth. She was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Kesous Jenkins, Kendrea Jenkins, Mishari Foresyth, Ashanti Foresyth, Devarion Foresyth, Jaquan Williams, Tori Foresyth, and Jacori Foresyth. Her joy was further multiplied by the arrival of her two great-grandchildren, Harper Davis and Ivy Jenkins. Joyce also leaves behind her three sisters, Hattie Hert, Frances (Clyde) Turner, and Cynthia (Roger) Evans, who, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, will forever cherish her memory.
Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Jimmy Foresyth, and her brothers, David, Henry, Morivet, and Hollis Knight. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and their memories remained a source of comfort and strength throughout her life.
Joyce's presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt. However, the love she shared and the lessons she taught will continue to resonate through the generations. As we say goodbye to Joyce Foresyth, we celebrate a life lived with unwavering love, boundless enthusiasm, and a legacy of joy that will never be forgotten.
Joyce's journey through life was a beautiful dance, one that touched the hearts of many and inspired a rhythm of kindness and warmth that will continue to echo in the lives she influenced. As we reflect on her life, we are reminded of the power of a loving heart and the enduring impact of a life well-lived.
