Joyce Ann Barthel, born on December 19, 1955, in Cheverly, Maryland, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona. A beloved daughter, sister, and friend, Joyce left this world surrounded by the love of her family and friends, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.

Throughout her life, Joyce was known for her boundless energy and curiosity. Her adventurous spirit drove her to explore new places and cultures, with a particular fondness for traveling on girls' trips and embracing every new experience that came her way. Whether it was skydiving for the thrill of it or attending fairs, she approached life with a zest that motivated those around her to also seek adventure.

Joyce dedicated her professional life to her work as a secretary, where she was admired for her diligence and commitment. Beyond her professional endeavors, she cherished her time spent with loved ones, believing strongly in the importance of family and friendships. Her dog, Bandit, was another beloved companion, and Joyce often delighted in their playful moments together.

A lover of good stories, Joyce enjoyed indulging in crime shows and became an avid reader. She also had a penchant for betting on the ponies, often inviting friends to join her in the excitement. Joyce's vivacious personality and her willingness to try new activities made her a cherished presence in the lives of many.

Joyce is remembered for her deep spirit of adventure and her unwavering love for those she held dear. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will continue to share the joyful and adventurous spirit she embodied. As we celebrate her remarkable life, we invite all who knew Joyce to hold onto their fondest memories of her, sharing stories and laughter in her honor.

Though she may be gone, Joyce's adventurous soul will continue to inspire us to seek new experiences and to cherish every moment with those we love.

Joyce is predeceased by her father, Richard Edwin Meyers, and her mother, Eleanor Joyce Hannafin. She is survived by her partner, Charlie Pickering (Arizona), her children: Jerry Barthel (Arizona) and Melanie Rivera (Georgia), her grandchild, Dustin Stuckey (Arizona), and her siblings: Nicky Meyers (Nevada), Phil Meyers (Wisconsin), Fritz Meyers (Illinois), and Greg Meyers (Illinois).
