Tracey Lynne Barthel

Tracey Lynne Barthel, 59, passed away surrounded by her family on December 25, 2025. Her unexpected passing has left everyone close to her shocked and deeply saddened.

Generous and loving by nature, Tracey was a dedicated and nurturing wife to Michael, irreplaceable mother to Justin (Brandy), Rebecca (Daniel), and Matthew, proud grandmother to Savannah and Colton, and Godmother to Shelley and Michael. She is survived by her sisters, Jody Otto and Candice Sawyer; nieces, Shelley and Kaitlyn; her brother-in-law, Joseph Sawyer and her sister-in-laws, Cindy Kaminski and Wendy Matheny. Tracey was also incredibly devoted to her Lord and The Blessed Mother.

Born on August 20, 1966 in Detroit, Tracey lived in Hazel Park before moving to Warren with her parents, Beverly and Johnny Hopper, and her sisters Candice and Jody. Music and singing were a huge part of their lives growing up, with Tracey singing in the school choir. Their shared love of music became something the sisters bonded over throughout the years.

Taking care of people came easily to her, and she showed her love in practical, everyday ways. Spending time with her family, cooking for those she loved, and being someone that could be depended on were just some of the small ways she showed that she cared.

Her grandchildren meant everything to her, with Fridays being reserved for "Grandma Days", a long-standing tradition she shared with them, spending those days making soup, singing, playing games, doing puzzles and crafts, and creating memories that will be remembered and cherished forever.

A proud dental office manager, Tracey loved her job and considered all the staff and even the patients as part of her family.

She was married to Michael for 36 years, raising three beautiful children together and took pride in making their house a home. Tracey loved her family more than anything, always going above and beyond to provide anything and everything they needed, most commonly cooking more delicious food than they could ever eat.

Her house and yard was always decorated with flowers and plants. She loved animals, especially her dog Sophie, but even extending her love and care to local birds with houses and feeders installed in the backyard.

Nothing was more important to Tracey than her relationships. Everyone who knew her felt the warmth and love in her heart, a presence that will be missed most of all.

Visitation for Tracey will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025 from 2-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc., 11470 Thirteen Mile Road (west of Hoover) Warren. A Funeral Mass for Tracey will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Catholic Church, 18720 Thirteen Mile Road, Roseville with an Instate period beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Church. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.
