Joyce Elaine Bell
Medicine Lodge - Joyce Bell, 73, passed away May 2, 2025, at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital. She was born June 1, 1951, in Medicine Lodge to James Melvin and Opal (Tredway) Jones. Joyce married David Bell, November 21, 1969, at the First Christian Church in Medicine Lodge. They were married for 52 years. He preceded her in death on August 16, 2022.
Joyce graduated from Medicine Lodge High School in 1969. She worked as a public health clerk with Barber County Health Department for many years until she retired in 2022 and was a bus driver for Barber County North USD 254 for more than 40 years. She was a member of First Christian Church in Medicine Lodge, EWOKS, Women's Outreach, Beta Sigma Phi Delta Tau Chapter Sorority, Pretty Prairie Saddle Club, Oklahoma Equestrian Trail Rider Association, Steel Magnolias and The Kansas Horse Council. She enjoyed horseback and mule riding, following and supporting her children's and grandchildren's activities, traveling, reading and cooking.
She is survived by her daughters, Melanie (Travis) Hermstein of Iola, Kansas and Ginger (Bruce) Allman of Wichita, Kansas; sons, David "DJ" (Angie) Bell of Dripping Springs, Texas and Lucas (Kelly) Bell of Lee's Summit, Missouri; grandchildren, Travis Hermstein, Peyton Allman, Owen Allman, Logan Bell, Brock Bell, Tyler Bell, Taylor Bell, Carson Bell and Kennedy Bell; sister, Joann (Chuck) Motter; sisters-in-law, Melba Jones and Barbara Jones.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, husband, David Bell; brothers, Wallace Jones, Marvin Jones, and infant Melvin Jones; sisters, Carolyn Leigan and Virginia Jones.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2025, at First Christian Church in Medicine Lodge, with Pastor Tom Walters presiding. Inurnment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, Kansas.
