Joyce Wooton Cornelius, age 85, of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Born on August 24, 1940, in Arkansas to beloved parents Rubin Wootton and Noma Moore, Joyce lived a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
In 1958, Joyce moved to Oklahoma, where she built a beautiful life surrounded by family and friends. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend - a true light in every room she entered. Her warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew her.
Joyce had a zest for life and a love for simple joys. She was sporty and competitive, enjoying softball, volleyball, and tetherball. She loved photography, crafting with her grandkids, sewing clothes and quilts, and taking her children on memorable vacations. A talented cook, Joyce loved preparing feasts for her family and always welcomed others to join in the celebration.
Her passions were as vibrant as her personality - she loved to dance, listen to Elvis Presley, and hear her brother Bob play guitar and sing. One of her most treasured memories was when her twin sister, Joy, surprised her with tickets to see Elvis live. Born just ten minutes apart, Joyce and Joy shared an unbreakable bond, often joking that Joy was born first because Joyce "kicked her out." Their closeness was a testament to sisterhood at its finest.
Joyce's love for Christmas was unmatched; she kept her Christmas tree up all year because it brought her so much joy. She adored anything pink and glittery, reflecting her bright and cheerful spirit. A Christian woman at heart, Joyce lived her faith through her generosity, kindness, and unwavering love for family.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; brothers, James and Robert; and her two grandsons, Blake and Taylor. She is survived by her twin sister, Joy; brothers, Charles and Harold; daughters, Tracy and her husband Ramie, Stacy and her husband Kenneth, and Shannon and her husband Brian; grandchildren, Brandon, Kody, Heaven, Erica, Bryson and his wife Cadey, Brayden, and Paisley; great-grandchildren, Abigale, Emry, Konley, and Joel; and many other loved ones and friends.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 30th, at 1:00 PM at Mustang Cemetery in Mustang, Oklahoma.
