Glen Oltermann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McNeil's Funeral Service on Feb. 8, 2026.
Glen Wilson Oltermann, 83, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026.

Glen was a quiet man, respected by everyone who knew him. He was born on July 9, 1942 in Hobart, Oklahoma to Gerhardt and Lela (Wilson) Oltermann.

The Oltermann family lived on a small farm in far southwest Oklahoma City. Glen graduated in 1960 from Mustang High School and has always treasured the friendships of his classmates.

Glen graduated from Central State College (now UCO) with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Arts.

Glen married Cleona Koehler on November 6, 1965. They lived in Oklahoma City until 1972 at which time they moved to Mustang into the house he built with Cleona. There they raised their three daughters. He was the perfect "Girl Daddy" to Cari, Connie, and Carin, teaching them to raise animals, grow a garden, drive stick shift, and to change their own oil and tires.

Glen (better known as the "good ole boy") retired as a Contracting Officer from the FAA in January 1997 after 26 years of service. After retirement he worked part-time with his high school friend at McNeil's Funeral Home in Mustang. Before long, Glen and Cleona purchased a piece of property in the country near Lookeba, Oklahoma, supposedly to pursue his hobby of hunting. The boy, raised on a farm, soon brought three cows to the property. He bought an old tractor and built a barn. He met, worked with, and became close friends with neighboring farmers. A new "hobby" was born - raising hay and nurturing cattle. The herd of three eventually became thirty, plus calves, and Lookeba became home (October 2002) for more than 20 years. By winter of 2020, Glen's health was declining, so the Oltermanns left the farm business.

Glen was a devoted Catholic and was a founding member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mustang.

Glen is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dewayne, sister Ethelyn Connor, and a nephew, Greg Connor. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Cleona, his daughters, Cari (Edwin) Farrar of Guthrie, Connie (Jeff) Houpt of Yukon, and Carin (Kenn) McSperitt of Canton, Texas. Also left to miss him are ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, his brother, Ralph, sister-in-law Pat Oltermann, and a host of family and friends.

A wake will be held on Tuesday, February 10, from 1-7 with a rosary at 7PM at McNeil's Funeral Home in Mustang.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, February 11, at 10AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church 1100 N. Sara Road, Mustang, OK with internment to follow at the Mustang Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Glen to Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hinton, OK or to Holy Spirit Catholic Church of Mustang

It was my honor to know Glen. He was the perfect example of a good husband and father. His quiet demeanor spoke volumes of his love for Cleona and her love for him. I am forever blessed by his devotion to the church in Hinton as he was always fixing things. My fondest memory is that Glen and Cleona were welcoming and warm to my sweet husband Terry. They invited him to flip pancakes for after church breakfast and he absolutely loved being a part of the kitchen crew. Thank you Glen for your kindness. May you rest now in the arms of Jesus. Amen
Sincerely
Sherri Wooldridge
