TRIMONT: A Funeral Service for Joyce A. Ekstadt, 92, of Lakeville, Minnesota and formerly of Trimont, Minnesota will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2025 at First Lutheran Church in Trimont, Minnesota with burial in First Lutheran Cemetery in rural Trimont, Minnesota.
Joyce was called to her eternal rest on Sunday morning, August 31, 2025 at N.C. Little Memorial Hospice in Edina, Minnesota. Family and Friends are welcome to the visitation Friday, September 12, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. The Kramer Family Funeral Home of Sherburn, Trimont and Welcome, Minnesota is in charge of Joyce's arrangements. Messages of Sympathy may be sent to the family at www.kramerfuneralhome.com.

Joyce Adell Hansen was born on February 10, 1933 to Harry and Esther (Kramer) Hansen on the farm in Cedar Township, Martin County, Minnesota. She was baptized and later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Triumph, Minnesota. She received her early education in country school and graduated from Tri-Mont high school in 1951. Joyce was employed as a bank teller at the bank in Triumph. On November 14,1953 she married her high school sweetheart John Ekstadt. They made their home in San Diego until April of 1955 when John's enlistment was up. After returning to Minnesota, they made their home in Trimont, Pipestone, and Brooklyn Center. Joyce did office work for Minnegasco when they lived in Pipestone and for the John Alden Insurance Company in Minneapolis until she retired in 1995. In retirement, Joyce and John lived in Lakeville, Minnesota.
Joyce enjoyed all kinds of fancy work and crocheting. She was a skilled seamstress, designing and sewing her daughter Cheryl's wedding dress. She also enjoyed travel, spending about twenty winters in south Texas, traveling to many US cities for reunions of the USS Curtiss Association, and visiting Mexico, Sweden, and Denmark where she met relatives.
Joyce is survived by her children: Cheryl (Richard) Swanson of Sioux Falls SD, Leanne Ekstadt of Minneapolis MN, and Paul (Cheri) Ekstadt of Lakeville MN, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Dale (Millie) Hansen, her sister Karen (Dave) Buhler, her brother Larry Hansen, and her brother Brian (Joanne) Hansen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Esther Hansen; her husband, John; sisters-in-law, Bonnilou Ekstadt and Marilyn Burke and other relatives.
