Joyce Elaine Gray

Joyce Elaine Gray, 66, beloved wife, sister, and cherished member of the North Vernon community, passed away on December 13, 2025. She was born on July 21, 1959, in Scottsburg, Indiana, to the late John R. "Bob" Martin and Iva "Ivy" (Price) Martin. A proud graduate of Scottsburg Senior High School, Class of 1977, Joyce exemplified dedication and service. On December 18, 1977, Joyce married her high school sweetheart, Brent Gray, and he survives. In her professional life, Joyce was a Head Teller at PNC Bank where she was known for her diligence and warmth, always greeting customers with a smile and offering a helping hand. She cherished her role in banking where she built strong relationships within her community. Her commitment to her community was evident through her years of active volunteerism at the Park Theatre Civic Centre, where she served not only as a volunteer but also as treasurer and director on the board. Joyce's spirit was one of generosity, as she devoted her time and talents to foster the arts. Joyce's passions extended beyond work and service; she found joy in the world of antiques. Together with Brent, she was both a collector and dealer, finding beauty and history in each piece they curated. Their love for antiques was matched only by their deep bond and shared interests, including their involvement with the National GraniteWare Society. In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by one sister, Bonnie Kaye Martin. She is survived by her devoted husband, Brent Gray; her brothers, Ron Martin and John (Janice) Martin; and her sisters, Arleen (Manfred) Schulze, Jeanie (Ray) Borden, Lois (Bill) Gambrell, Pam (Bob) Colwell, Linda (Denny) Wilson, and Rebecca (Mark) Suter; two brothers-in-law, Philip (Crystal) Gray and Larry (Judy) Gray, numerous nieces and nephews; and their cat, Kit. Joyce will be honored in a celebration of life ceremony to occur at a later date on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at the Park Theatre Civic Centre in North Vernon, Indiana. Memorial donations can be made in Joyce's name to the Park Theatre Civic Centre in North Vernon or the local charity of your choice in c/o Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
