Joyce Howard

JOYCE HOWARD Joyce Rhodes Howard passed away peacefully in Katy, Texas on February 6th, 2025, at the age of 96. Born in Georgetown, Texas, she was the youngest of two children born to Abb Sr. and Gladys Rhodes.
Joyce attended Georgetown High School where she met her future husband R.D. Howard. She was a talented tennis player and cheerleader for the Georgetown Eagles. She enjoyed dancing and hanging out with her friends.
After graduating from Southwestern University, Joyce and R.D. married in 1950. From this marriage they had two children. Duff Howard and Mike Howard. Joyce was devoted to her family. She would do absolutely anything for her boys. She took her mother Gladys into her home and cared for her for numerous years while continuing to teach school.
Joyce taught school for over 20 years in the Corpus Christi, Texas area.
In 1986 both Joyce and R.D. retired and enjoyed spending time with family and friends and going on the occasional cruise.
Joyce and R.D. were married for 74 years.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Abb Sr. and Gladys Rhodes, brother Abb Jr. (Bessie).
She is survived by son Duff Howard (Addie), son Mike Howard (Kim) and four grandchildren, Kaylee Garcia (Roland), Chris Howard (Brooke), Blake Howard and Brandon Howard.
Joyce will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be on:
