My first remembrances of Aunt Joyce came from the fun trips to Uncle Mike and Aunt Joyce´s farm to see my cousins. I loved being in the barn, seeing the animals, climbing or swinging over hay bales, camping out with Cindy and Mike and Becky and talking and laughing most of the night, skating in the winter and playing crack the whip while the bonfire roared in the middle of the pond, running a trap line in the middle of the night with Mike only to find out he had trapped a skunk, or just listening to the extended family "Chase Lore" as uncles and aunts sat around and shared crazy tales of yore.
And I remember Aunt Joyce being chipper and encouraging us when we were younger-and that something always seemed to be cooking in the house-something that smelled delicious. I remember that she was always positive and engaging and kind and supportive and hospitable whenever I was traveling through-and that she only grew dearer and sweeter on into adulthood.
Most of all, I remember her faith-her genuine love for Jesus Christ-and her desire to order her life in alignment with His gospel and values and mission. And while it is painful to try to absorb the reality of her death, I know with as much certainty as I can know anything that I will see her again some day soon-based on the promises of Jesus-the One who resurrected from the grave.

When I think of Aunt Joyce, a smile always comes to mind as she was full of life and joy and showed it in her life. I will always remember a time when Jim & I and our family stopped by to see Aunt Joyce & Uncle Mike, only to experience them also housing Grandma Gladys, and one of Aunt Joyce's daughters and their family - 4 generations under one roof for a period of time! Lots of love and laughter in their home! We will miss you, Aunt Joyce.
