Joyce Klock

Joyce Klock, of Chancellor, South Dakota went to her eternal home at the Sanford Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls on February 7, 2026 just two days shy of her 97th birthday.

Please join her family for a visitation from 5:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at First Baptist Church in Chancellor. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am the following day, February 13, 2026 also at the church.

Marian Joyce Klock was born on a farm near Emery, South Dakota on February 9, 1929, the youngest of eight daughters of parents John and Gesina (Terveen) Johnson. Joyce attended grades one through four in Loveland, Colorado, grades five through eleven in Chancellor, and grade twelve at Washington High School in Sioux Falls. She then graduated from Sioux Valley Hospital School of Nursing.

Joyce married Myron V. Klock on July 9, 1950 in Worthington, MN. They lived and worked in Hawthorne, CA before moving to the farm north of Chancellor in 1957. While Joyce spent many years caring for others as a nurse, her truest calling was helping her husband on the family farm, raising her five children, and making each grandchild feel special.

Joyce accepted the Lord and was baptized into Christ in 1941 at twelve years old. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Chancellor, and Awana leader for over ten years.

Joyce is survived by her children, Wendell (Carrie) Klock of McCook, NE, Janice (James) Poppinga, Kathie (Don) Wiebersiek, Gary (Linda) Klock, and David (Kimberly) Klock all of Chancellor; grandchildren Shalean (Curtis) Rowe, Wendy Klock, Tami (Bob) Mammenga, Ryan (Andrea) Poppinga, Aaron (Angel) Poppinga, Rachel (Matt) Pajl, Amy (Tim) Gabrielson, Kristi (Derek) Droge, Katie (Tyler) Urban, Justin Klock (Jordan Hoftender), Elizabeth (Chris) Oltmanns, Kaleb Klock, and Jeffrey Klock; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Emily, and Danica Rowe, Luke, Kate, and Paige Poppinga, Madelyn Graham, Klaire, Sadie, and Birdie Droge, Jase, Eli, Ben and Zoe Pajl, Jack and Micah Gabrielson, McKenna Oltmanns, and a brand new baby any day now; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Besides her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Myron Klock; sisters, Allie Veenker, Lillian Johnson (in childhood), Lenora Fauth, Emma Klock, Bertha Hoogestraat, Ruth Hoogestraat, and Bernice Youngren; and son-in-law, Merlin Wildeboer.

Memorial donations may be made to the Union Gospel Mission or the Humane Society in remembrance of Joyce.
