Joyce D. MacDonald

Joyce D. (Skillin) MacDonald of Plymouth, passed away at home on April 15, 2024, at the age of seventy-six. She was the beloved wife of the late James MacDonald; the loving and devoted mother of Heather Bent and her husband Denny of Carver; the cherished Nana of Juliana Bent; the sister of Clifford Skillin and his wife Debbie of Blackstone and the late Janet Skorupski. She was the aunt of Bradley Skillin, Lesley Skillin, and her daughter, Morti and Eric Skorupski, his wife Denice, and their son Alexander. Joyce leaves behind her tight-knit group of wonderful friends and their equally wonderful spouses, whom she treasured for their unwavering love and support.
Joyce was born on February 23, 1948, in Quincy to the late Clifford and Bertha (Golding) Skillin. She worked at Peck Flooring for thirty years with Ronald and Bonnie Peck who were family to her. She continued to work for Peck's Flooring America for the new owner Joe Macuch for many years until her retirement. She was an active member of the Chiltonville Congregational Church where she found comfort and solace with her widow's group and other church activities. She enjoyed cross-stitching, crafts, reading, shopping, playing games, and going to dinner with friends. Joyce loved spending time at the ice rink watching her granddaughter, Juliana figure skate and all the other skaters. She never missed a show or competition and enjoyed traveling to competitions near and far with her travel companion Bella Bent. She will be remembered for her kind, gentle, and sweet spirit and will be missed terribly by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Chiltonville Congregational Church, 6 River Street, Plymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth, MA 02360, or the Jordan Hospital Club Cancer Center, 275 Sandwich Street, Plymouth, MA 02360.
