Arthur Dooley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cartmell-Davis Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc. - Care Center on Jun. 3, 2025.
Arthur J. Dooley, Jr., a cherished resident of Carver and formerly of Plymouth, passed away peacefully at home on June 3rd, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 85 years old. Arthur was the devoted husband of Joyce P. (Thibeault) Dooley, with whom he shared a beautiful life filled with love and companionship.
Born on October 17, 1939, in Natick, Massachusetts, Arthur was the son of the late Arthur J. and Mary (Barry) Dooley. He grew up in Billerica, where he received his education and graduated from Billerica Memorial High School. Following his education, Arthur proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as an Air Policeman during the Korean Conflict, embodying the values of duty and honor.
Arthur dedicated much of his professional life to the New England Power Company in Somerset, where he worked as a Stationary Engineer. His commitment to his work was matched only by his devotion to his faith. A lifelong Catholic, Arthur served as an altar server at St. Peter's Church in Plymouth and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1190, where he contributed to the community with his time and talents.
In addition to his professional and spiritual commitments, Arthur found joy in woodworking, a hobby that allowed him to express his creativity and craftsmanship. He took great pride in the pieces he created, often sharing them with family and friends.
Arthur is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce, and their children: son Michael Dooley of Wareham; daughters Diane Kessler and her partner Steven Taves of Ellsworth, N.H., and Debra Nichols and her husband Steven of Plymouth. He was a cherished grandfather to Brandon Nichols, who brought immense joy to his life. Arthur is also survived by his brother, Douglas Dooley and his wife Gail of Dracut. He was predeceased by his brothers Dennis of San Diego and Bruce of Leominster.
The family will receive visitors at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, located at 150 Court St., Plymouth (Downtown), on Friday, June 6th, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 7th, at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Church, 86 Court St., Plymouth. Burial will be private at a later date in Vine Hills Cemetery, Plymouth.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the NVNA, Hospice of Norwell, and the Kind- Hearted Caregiver of Hanson for their compassionate care during Arthur's illness.
Arthur J. Dooley, Jr. will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his faith, and his generous spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and strength that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
