Sandra J. Hughes, age 65, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, October 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late William Hughes III, and the devoted daughter of the late Nicholas and Anna (DiGerolomo) Kapustin.
Born on June 13, 1960, in Boston, Sandra was raised in the city's North End, where she held fond memories of shopping in the Haymarket with her family for fresh fruits and vegetables-especially peaches, her favorite treat.
Sandra worked as a laser technician and was known for her bright spirit and warmth. A true sun worshipper, she loved spending time at the beach, whether along the local shores or while traveling to island destinations. A social butterfly, she had a gift for making everyone around her smile.
She enjoyed playing cards and board games-Yahtzee being a favorite-and had a lifelong love for animals, especially her cherished dogs. Sandra also loved watching birds and always kept an eye out for cardinals, her favorite.
After the loss of her husband at a young age, Sandra courageously raised her three sons, who will forever cherish her independence, humor, and strength.
A passionate rock and roll fan, Sandra adored music by the Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, and Led Zeppelin, though Freddie Mercury and Queen were her true favorites. Her family fondly remembers her as a talented cook and a queen of trivia and karaoke-her go-to song being "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac.
Sandra's warmth, laughter, and love will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
Sandra was the mother of William Hughes and his partner Mylynn of Winthrop, and Bryan Hughes and his partner Felicia of Plymouth, and the late Daniel Hughes. She was the sister of Deborah Kapustin Byrne the North End of Boston, and the late Kenny and Wayne. Sandra also leaves many close friends and family, and her cherished dogs, Russell, Amber and Jaxson.
Visitation with the Hughes family will be held at the CARTMELL- DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 150 Court Street, Plymouth (downtown) on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 4:00PM – 8:00PM. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at St. Peter's Church, Plymouth at 11:00AM. Interment will be private
