Joyce Ann Stewart Meech, 73, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on the evening of Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 17, 1951, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to Gerald and Gladys Crum Stewart, Joyce lived a life marked by kindness, intellect, and devotion to her faith and family. She retired as a statistician from the United States Census Bureau in Jeffersonville, where her dedication and precision were deeply valued.
A member of the First Baptist Church in Charlestown, Joyce found joy in teaching Sunday School and sharing her faith with others. She was an avid reader who loved Stephen King novels and her Bible, a classic movie enthusiast captivated by Casablanca, and a connoisseur of fine perfumes and sweet treats.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her brother James R. Stewart, and her sister Connie Muir.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for her family: daughters Yolanda Meech (Stephen Andriot) of Louisville and Erica Meech (John Manning) of South Carolina; her siblings Anita Callado of Salt Lake City, UT; Donna Eve of Scottsburg, IN; Gary Stewart of San Antonio, TX; Doug Stewart of Idaho Falls, ID; and Marvin Stewart of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren Jilena, Robert, Peyton, and Jakari; two great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
A Life Celebration Service will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with burial to follow in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will take be on Tuesday, December 10, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and again on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that expressions of sympathy be made in Joyce's honor through donations to the Kentucky School for the Blind, 1867 Frankfort Ave, Louisville, KY 40206.
