Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home & Crematory - Cuyahoga FallsJames E. Meech, 77, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, passed away peacefully after a courageous year-long battle with brain cancer. Born on April 28, 1948, in Akron, Ohio, James grew up surrounded by family and faith, graduating from Hoban High School and later attending Kent State University. From the time the parish was founded, Jim was a lifelong member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and attended school there, building a strong foundation of faith that guided him throughout his life.
He married the love of his life, June, and together they built a beautiful life over 53 years of marriage, raising three children, Scott (Lorah), Eric (Heather), and Kristen (Zach), who were his greatest pride.
James spent 40 years as a manager with Acme Grocery Stores, where his dedication, leadership, and easygoing personality left a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike. Outside of work, he was happiest outdoors—boating, traveling in his RV, fishing, and exploring new places with family. A devoted Cleveland Browns fan and longtime season ticket holder, James approached every season with optimism, loyalty, and a true love for the game.
Above all else, James was a family man. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren—Sarah (Tyler), Luke, John, Aaron, Jimmy, Joey, and Jake—whose laughter and love brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his sister, Joan, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Rita.
Family and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, where all who knew and loved James are welcome to celebrate his life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice House of Medina, 5075 Windfall Road, Medina, OH 44256, whose compassionate care brought comfort and peace to Jim and his family.
